Prevalence of Bordetella bronchiseptica in cats | |||||
Since 1991 there have been many publications reporting isolation of Bb from
cats with URTD. Recent research suggests that Bb is widespread in cats.
Between a quarter and four-fifths of studied cats have evidence of Bb
exposure. Highest rates of exposure are seen in multicat households and
catteries. A clear association between Bb infection and URTD has been shown and there
is good evidence that Bb can act as a primary pathogen causing URTD. |
